Coral unveiled as Ayr sponsors
Bookmakers Coral have agreed a three-year deal with Ayr racecourse to sponsor the Scottish Grand National.
The firm, who also support the Welsh Grand National, will back the race until 2009 with at least £160,000 in prize money on offer each year.
Coral completed the deal on Saturday and Alan Macdonald, chairman of Ayr, said: “I am delighted to welcome Coral as sponsor of our Scottish Grand National Festival and in particular the Scottish Grand National itself.
“It is a marvellous race and I feel it is fitting that we have a sponsor as well known as Coral and a name that is synonymous with horse racing.
“I am sure that the Coral Scottish Grand National will go from strength to strength and everyone at Ayr racecourse is looking forward to working closely with Coral over the next three years and hopefully beyond.”
Wilf Walsh, managing director of the firm, added: “Coral has a history of long standing sponsorships of great races, and we are delighted to add this prestigious contest to our portfolio.
“We are committed to working with Ayr to take the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival to even greater heights over the coming years.”
The 2007 renewal of the four-mile-one-furlong contest will be staged on April 21.
