US soldiers spend night in Clare after aircraft problem

Almost 250 US soldiers spent the night in hotels in Co Clare last night following a technical difficulty with their aircraft.

The plane was en route to the US when the problem was discovered and the 238 soldiers on board were put up for the night at hotels in Ennis and Dromoland.

The soldiers were not allowed to leave their hotels during the stay and are expected to continue on their journey later today.
