ComReg finds eircom discriminated against telecom operators

23/06/2006 - 16:07:07
The communications regulator has ruled that eircom has discriminated against other telecoms operators.

The ruling arises from the provision of customer information which could have given eircom an unfair advantage over its competitors.

An investigation by ComReg has confirmed that sales agents for eircom's retail division were able to get other operators' customers' account numbers directly from eircom's wholesale systems.

This information is not meant to be made available to any retail operator unless provided by customers themselves.

Eircom now has a month to contact ComReg on what it intends to do about the matter or it may face possible High Court action.
