Racist attitudes on the rise in North, says survey
21/06/2006 - 11:55:24Racist attitudes have increased alarmingly in the North in recent years, according to the latest Life and Times Survey by Queens University and the University of Ulster.
One-quarter of people questioned as part of the survey last year admitted to being racially prejudiced, compared to just over one-in-ten in 1994.
The proportion of Catholic respondents who describe themselves as prejudiced has doubled to 18% over the 11-year period, while the percentage of Protestants has almost trebled to 33%.
