Court gives PSNI more time to question gun plot suspects

21/06/2006 - 13:17:33
Police in the North have been given more time to question six suspected dissident republicans arrested this week over an alleged international gun smuggling plot.

The six were among 10 people arrested on Monday during raids in Co Fermanagh and Co Armagh.

The other four have all been released without charge.

The PSNI says the raids were mounted on foot of information from the British security services about the gun smuggling operation.

One of those arrested was also questioned about the 1998 Omagh bombing.

A court today gave detectives an additional 36 to 48 hours to question the six suspects, who are still in custody.
