ISEQ down despite recovery

The ISEQ index of shares bounced back for this morning's heavy losses, but was still down 20.10 to 7343.01 at close of business today.

The financials fared poorly, but all avoided significant drops. The worst performer was Irish Life & Permanent, slipping 13c to €17.87. Anglo Irish bank fared little better however, down 8c to €11.06. Bank of Ireland also slipped 8c to €13.92, while AIB was down 6c to €18.22.

In a day of general decline, Ryanair dropped 4c to €7.16. Paddy Power was down 15c to €12.80, while CRH shed 11c to €25.10.

Elan bucked the trend today, up 32c to €13.20.
