Honda make changes

20/06/2006 - 10:01:40
Formula One team Honda have reacted to their dramatic loss of form by promoting Shuhei Nakamoto to the new role of senior technical director.

The Brackley-based team have fallen off the pace of the front-runners despite an encouraging start to the season, a slide culminating in a pointless British Grand Prix weekend.

Before the Silverstone race, they revealed technical director Geoff Willis would stay away from race meetings this year to concentrate on improving the car.

Now they have installed Nakamoto above Willis in the Honda hierarchy, with chief executive Nick Fry welcoming the move.

He said: “Honda has set itself some very tough targets for its Formula One team and made a considerable investment in order to achieve them, so we have to ensure that we do everything necessary to pursue those objectives.

“Shuhei Nakamoto has an excellent record of achievement with Honda and we have confidence that his appointment, together with our investments at the Brackley HQ, will help us towards our goal.”
