Family of crash victim refuses to accept Sun’s apology
20/06/2006 - 11:09:01The family of a Co Tyrone woman killed in a road accident in Co Donegal last week is refusing to accept The Sun newspaper's apology for claiming her husband killed her.
Nellie Doherty was laying flowers at the scene where a friend of hers was killed in a crash two days earlier at the time of the accident.
Her husband was sitting in their car, which was shunted by a passing vehicle, crushing Mrs Doherty against a crash barrier.
The Sun covered the story under a banner headline reading "Husband Mows Down Vigil Gran".
It later apologised, but a sister of the dead woman has refused to accept the apology, saying the damage has already been done.
