FAI publishes plan for women’s soccer
14/06/2006 - 14:02:50The Football Association of Ireland has published a new blueprint for the development of women's soccer.
At present, 12,500 female players are registered with 550 teams in 18 different leagues.
The FAI plan will see girls of six years taught the basic skills to play the game for fun before taking part more competitively as they grow older.
The association plans to have a new national league in place next year and to encourage more adult involvement in the game as coaches, referees and administrators.
