Drogheda assistant takes Galway United post
14/06/2006 - 17:51:10League Leaders Drogheda United have been rocked by the news that assistant manager Tony Cousins has terminated his contract with the club to take up the vacant managers job at Galway United.
The former Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk hit-man has been a firm favourite with the Drogs and has been assistant to Paul Doolin since February 2005.
Doolin announced the news to the players and coaching staff at this morning’s training session.
Doolin paid tribute to Cousins who has been his "right hand" for the last two seasons.
Doolin said: "Tony has been a dedicated and loyal member of the club over the last 2 years.
"He brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table and certainly played his part in our recent success. Everybody here wishes Tony well in his new role."
