Cliffs of Moher buskers to face county council auditions

Buskers who want to perform at the Cliffs of Moher will have to undergo X-Factor style auditions under new plans being drawn up by Clare County Council.

The council is planning to play the Simon Cowell role under a new licensing system it is planning to put in place for buskers at the tourist attraction.

The council says a busking "free for all" is in place at the cliffs and could be putting people off visiting the area.

It has instigated legal proceedings against 19 frequent buskers who it wants to expel before it introduces the new system.
