EU: Guantanamo Bay must shut immediately
13/06/2006 - 15:15:31MEPs overwhelmingly called today for the immediate closure of Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
A resolution endorsed by nearly 600 of the 732-Strong European Parliament warned Washington that America is losing credibility by disregarding fundamental human rights in the fight against terrorism.
It urges EU leaders to press President Bush at an EU-US summit in Austria later this month to close the Guantanamo Bay detention centre “and act in accordance with international law regarding the treatment of detainees".
