Bord na Mona plays down damage caused by bog fires
13/06/2006 - 11:28:34Bord na Mona is playing down the damage caused by a series of bog fires in the midlands in the last five days.
The fire services spent the weekend tackling blazes over hundreds of acres of bogland in several counties.
The worst of the fires occurred at Bord na Mona works at Mountdillon and Derryhaun in Co Longford, where hundreds of tonnes of milled peat were destroyed on Sunday night.
Despite this, the company said today that the damage caused was negligible and the costs involved would be very small.
