Emergency landing: Oven thought to blame
12/06/2006 - 12:01:23An fire scare aboard an American Airlines plane that forced it into an emergency landing in Dublin is thought to be connected to an on-board oven.
The plane was carrying 135 passengers from London-Heathrow to JFK Airport in New York when the pilot diverted to Dublin after he smelled smoke in the cockpit.
The aircraft landed safely at around 10am and the passengers were evacuated to the terminal building while technicians carried out an inspection.
The incident is believed to have been caused by a problem with an oven in the galley.
The plane is expected to continue on its journey later today.
