Fernando Alonso has won the British Grand Prix.

After a victory that had barely been in doubt since the first corner. Alonso secured a 23-point lead over second-placed Michael Schumacher, who trailed in 13.9 seconds adrift.

Kimi Raikkonen claimed his third podium of the season in finishing third, although he had Fisichella breathing down his neck over the closing laps.

Massa, Montoya, Heidfeld and Villeneuve completed the points-scoring top eight, ensuring the first point-less weekend for a Honda team on the slide as Button’s team-mate, Rubens Barrichello, trailed home in 10th.

In the constructors’ championship, Renault have a 31-point cushion over Ferrari, with McLaren a further 14 points back.
