Some progress for ISEQ
The ISEQ index has enjoyed a relatively positive morning, gaining 73.60 points to 7263.02.
The financials all fared well, particularly AIB, who climbed an impressive 64c to €18.15. There was also a strong showing from Irish Life & Permanent, who gained 35c to €17.75. Shares in Anglo Irish Bank are 15c up to €11.25, whilst Bank of Ireland inched 3c higher to €13.73.
Investors also favoured the construction sector, with CRH the biggest winner. Shares in the building firm gained 47c to €23.94. Kingspan also enjoyed a positive morning, 10c up to €13.05.
Ryanair shares were boosted by 18c to €7.13. Business support services company DCC gained a full 20c to €18.20, whilst bookmaker Paddy Power went up 15c to €13.15 ahead of an expected flurry of bets on the World Cup, which kicks off later today.
The only major dip of the day so far was endured by Elan. The pharmaceutical company dropped 32c to €12.03.
