07/06/2006 - 09:12:29
Former Chelsea assistant manager Gwyn Williams has left the club.

Williams, who was Claudio Ranieri’s number two at Stamford Bridge and also worked alongside Gianluca Vialli and Ruud Gullit, had been working as chief scout.

He joined Chelsea in 1979 as youth development officer but has now chosen to leave the Barclays Premiership champions.

A Chelsea statement declared that Williams would be looking to explore “new ventures”.

Chief executive Peter Kenyon said: “We would like to thank Gwyn for his loyal and committed service.”
