UN to receive report criticising Ireland's child protections

The Children's Rights Alliance is presenting a report to the UN today which accuses the Irish Government of failing to honour its commitments in the area of child protection.

The report accuses the Government of breaching its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, particularly in relation to the treatment of children from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds.

It is being presented to a UN meeting in Geneva today.

The Children's Rights Alliance wants the Government to arrange a constitutional amendment to ensure that children's rights are given express recognition.
