Farmers received €2.25bn in direct payments last year
07/06/2006 - 13:30:12Farmers received record levels of direct payments last year, according to the Department of Agriculture's latest annual review and outlook.
The department said farmers received a total of €2.25bn in such payments in 2005.
However, it said this figure reflected a one-off overlap in direct handouts due to the transition from a range of old schemes to a single payment system.
