Visindar could bid to atone at Curragh
Connections of Visindar revealed the Budweiser Irish Derby “could be an option” after he finished fifth in the English equivalent on Saturday.
Andre Fabre’s charge was sent off the warm 2-1 favourite for the Vodafone-sponsored Classic but, despite showing up well for a long way, could only finish fifth, two lengths behind Sir Percy.
Georges Rimaud, racing manager to owner the Aga Khan, gave Visindar a clean bill of health but acknowledged the hurly-burly of the Derby was nothing like the Sinndar colt had experienced when he won his three races in France prior to the world’s most famous Flat race.
“He is all well and has come out of the race good,” said Rimaud.
“I have not seen him but understand he is okay.
“He ran well but obviously lacked experience in this sort of race.
“I think it just shows that a strong challenge is something different to what he is used to.
“The Irish Derby could certainly be an option but we will wait a couple of days before making a firm decision.”
