Man injured in Galway house fire

A man in his 40s was seriously injured in a fire at a two-storey house in Spiddal in Galway at about 4am today.

The man suffered serious burns and has been removed to St James's Hospital in Dublin for treatment.

Another man was injured in the fire. Eight teenage students who were staying in the house at the time escaped unharmed.

A forensic examination of the scene is underway.
