Shot fired during attempted security van raid in Limerick

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating an attempted armed robbery on a security van, during which a shot was fired.

A lone gunman held up staff as cash was being transferred to a bank at Courtfields, Raheen, at around 9am today.

The man fired a shot and tried to grab a container, but the staff resisted and the raider fled empty-handed.

He tried to hijack a car and was then picked up by a man on a motorbike, which was later found in a graveyard.

One member of the security team was injured during the struggle.
