That age-old dilemma for the writer: if I don’t live a full and interesting life how can I write about others living it?

Farrell, good but not overly-extended, is a struggling writer who spends more time trying to cobble two words together than actually experiencing life in the raw. In a local LA bar he meets the sexy waitress (Hayek) who might just inspire him.

It might inspire him but this disappointing film, so full of potential and promise, doesn’t inspire its audience. It really doesn’t go anywhere … perhaps the writer should get out more.
