14 injured in blast at Istanbul rifle range

An explosion caused by a fire at a rifle range in Istanbul left 14 people injured today, NTV television reported.

The rifle range is located in the district of Uskudar on the Asian side of the city, it said. All 14 injured were taken to local hospitals.

It was not clear how the fire began nor what caused the explosion.

The explosion did not appear to be terror-related.

Radical Kurdish, Islamic and leftist militants are active in the city and have staged bomb attacks in the past.
