London rally highlights attacks on Iraqis

31/05/2006 - 12:50:37
Members of the Iranian resistance movement rallied in London’s Parliament Square today and called on the British government and the United Nations Security Council to “stop the mullahs’ unbridled terrorism” against innocent Iraqi citizens and Iranian political refugees in Ashraf City.
Ashraf City in Iraq is the principal base for political refugees from Iran.

In a letter to Prime Minister Tont Blair, Laila Jazayeri, director of the Association of Anglo-Iranian Women in the UK, said that on Monday, the Iranian regime’s “terrorists” blew up a passenger bus carrying Iraqi workers to Ashraf City, home to thousands of members of the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran.

“The terrorist attack, carried out three kilometres north of the Iraqi town of Khalis, left 13 dead and 15 wounded, some in a critical condition.”

She said the attack was carried out one day after the mullahs’ Foreign Minister had visited Iraq.

“We are writing to urge you to press the Iranian regime to stop promoting terrorist attacks in Iraq,” she said.

Today’s protest, involving about 100 people, was organised by the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
