Johnson poised for Goodison move
Andrew Johnson is expected to complete his £8.5m (€12.4m) move from Crystal Palace to Everton today.
Johnson, 25, has revealed how the prospect of silverware persuaded him to join David Moyes’ side, and he is understood to have agreed a four-year deal worth £40,000 (€58,400) a week.
The England striker, who undertook a medical yesterday, turned down moves to Bolton and Wigan, who both matched Everton’s bid, and feels his international future could also blossom with the Toffees.
“While I do believe that Everton will afford me the best opportunity to fulfil my twin ambitions of winning major honours and again representing England at senior level, the last few days have been both hectic and demanding,” Johnson said.
“After several days of careful consideration, I have decided that my footballing future lies at Goodison Park with Everton.
“I find the prospect of playing for one of the biggest names in British football impossible to resist and I am now just hopeful that I can swiftly complete my medical so that I can sign on the dotted line and commit myself to the club.”
