Output price index up 0.5% in March

The seasonally-adjusted output price index increased by 0.5% in March 2006, compared with February 2006, while the seasonally-adjusted input price index increased by 0.2%.

The terms of trade index increased by 0.3% in March.

Comparing March 2006 unadjusted agricultural price indices with the corresponding March 2005 indices shows that potatoes, cows for slaughter, vegetables, finished cattle and pigs were up 172.4%, 6.4%, 4.9%, 2.2% and 0.4% respectively, while poultry, cereals, milk, store cattle and sheep were down 6.3%, 4.3%, 3.5%, 2.0% and 1.5%.

Energy, fertilisers, veterinary expenses, seeds and feeding stuffs were up 13.6%, 4.2%, 4.1%, 3.6% and 1.1% respectively, while plant-protection products were down 1.5%.
