Knifeman wounds 19 in Berlin rampage
27/05/2006 - 09:17:47A knife-wielding man went on a rampage in Germany and attacked pedestrians at random early today, wounding 19 people, four of them seriously, police said.
The 17-year-old attacker was arrested, a police spokesman told The Associated Press.
The man had mingled with crowds after a ceremony inaugurating Berlin’s new central rail station before he began to randomly attack people.
A police spokesman said 11 ambulances were called to the scene.
It was not known whether the attacker was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.
