Redknapp signs new Pompey deal
Harry Redknapp has signed a new three-year deal with Portsmouth as he looks to build on their Barclays Premiership survival.
The 59-year-old rejoined Portsmouth from neighbours Southampton in December, and helped them preserve their top-flight status with a strong finish to the term.
He has also expressed a hope that son Jamie, the former England and Liverpool midfielder, might join his coaching staff.
Upon joining Pompey for a second time, Redknapp signed only until the end of the season but will now stay at Fratton Park until 2009.
Chief executive Peter Storrie told the club’s official website, www.pompeyfc.co.uk: “It is nice to get the matter sorted and now we can concentrate on moving this club forwards and upwards to where it belongs.
“The ending to the season was only the beginning as far as everyone connected with the club are concerned and Harry is now the man who will take us on from here.”
