Kelly considers future after Ireland debut

25/05/2006 - 08:28:04
Tottenham full-back Stephen Kelly admits he may have to leave White Hart Lane to get regular first-team football.

Kelly made his Republic of Ireland debut yesterday in the 1-0 defeat to Chile at Lansdowne Road, and he is hoping to feature for his country in the future.

The 22-year-old made his Spurs debut in 2003 but only made 10 appearances last season, with Paul Stalteri preferred at right-back.

“For me, I need first-team football and need to play regularly whether that is at Tottenham or maybe somewhere else,” said Kelly.

“At the moment I’m a Tottenham player and that is all I can concentrate on.”

He added on Sky Sports News: “I was just delighted to get out there and play and hopefully I put in a good enough performance to get myself in the squad next time.”
