Lennon letter sells for €18,000
25/05/2006 - 12:25:42An angry letter John Lennon sent a journalist who accused the former Beatle of ripping off black music has been sold at auction in London for £12,000 (€17,600).
In the letter, Lennon argued: "Many kids were turned on to black music by us. It wasn't a rip-off, it was a love-in."
Other items in the sale at Bonham's auction house in London included a signed copy of Beatles album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which sold for £14,000 (€20,500).
