Finnan undergoing fitness test ahead of Chile friendly
24/05/2006 - 09:23:34Steve Finnan is due to undergo a fitness test today to determine whether he can line out for Ireland in tonight's friendly against Chile at Lansdowne Road.
The Liverpool defender picked up a knee injuring during this week's training camp in Portugal, raising doubts about his fitness to participate.
Elsewhere, Gary Breen is back in the Irish team for the first time since 2004, while Kevin Kilbane will earn his 70th international cap after also his inclusion in the starting 11.
The match is manager Steve Staunton's second game in charge of Ireland.
Staunton confirmed yesterday that his consultant, Bobby Robson, will be in attendance tonight following an operation to remove a suspected cancerous growth from his lung.
