Tayto launch new luxury snacks
Snack maker Tayto today launched a new range of products in a bid to corner the luxury end of the crisp market.
Tayto owners, the C&C Group, is currently carrying out a review of the firm in a bid to thwart competition, especially from rivals like Walkers.
The new ’Tayto Occasions’ range are available in Thai Sweet Chilli and Mature Cheddar Cheese and Red Onion flavour.
It has been speculated that C&C planned to sell Tayto, which market experts have valued at 60 million euro.
But a C&C spokesperson said: “There can be no certainty that any transaction in relation to Tayto will ultimately occur.”
Tayto’s flagship factory in Coolock, north Dublin closed last year.
The brand’s famous cheese-and-onion crisps began in a small factory off Dublin’s Moore Street in 1954.
The products were first manufactured by hand using two sets of deep fat fryers.
