M&S record Irish sales of €500m

Marks & Spencer had sales in the Republic of Ireland during the last year of over €500m, it was confirmed today.

Company bosses are delighted with the success of its 11 Irish stores.

The retial giant is currently making its biggest ever investment in its Cork store since it opened here

The entire store is set to benefit from a makeover.

It is to get new lighting, improved layout, changing rooms and an upgrade of its food and restaurant facilities.

Its fashion ranges will also be extended.

Store manager Ray O’Callaghan is overseeing the Cork redevelopment.

He has paid tribute to customers and staff for their support over the years.

He said the new store underlined the company’s commitment to providing Cork with shopping facilities to match the best in Europe.

The Patrick Street outlet is remaining open during the work.
