Towcester on, Leicester off

This evening’s meeting at Towcester goes ahead after the track passed a 9am inspection.

Although conditions at the track will be testing, clerk of the course Robert Bellamy was pleased to see some improvement in the ground.

He said: “We have passed the inspection but it will be heavy ground. We had a dry night and the forecast for today is hopefully dry with the possibility of just a shower or two.”

This evening’s meeting at Leicester has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson held a thorough inspection of the track and despite some improvement, a number of areas are still not fit for racing.

He said: “We’ve had to call it off. Although 95% of the track is raceable, we have just a few patches which are not safe.”
