National pay deal talks to resume today
23/05/2006 - 07:56:17Talks on a new national pay agreement are expected to resume today after unforeseen difficulties in the past two days.
Employers, unions and the Government were initially hoping to conclude a pay deal during the weekend.
However, discussions on the matter are understood to have been parked to allow for further negotiations on the thorny issue of protecting employment standards.
Reports this morning said the social partners were hoping to reach agreement on employment standards today, paving the way for the pay talks to resume in earnest.
