Surge reported in corporate meetings, conferences
The total number of people participating in corporate meetings, international conferences and incentive trips in Ireland grew by 23% during 2005 according to latest figures from Fáilte Ireland.
About 100 representatives from the tourism industry attended a briefing in Dublin today where the Fáilte Ireland Business Tourism Forum provided an update on developments in this growing sector.
More than a quarter of a million visitors came to Ireland to participate in corporate meetings, international conferences and incentive trips in 2005. Overall, business tourism in Ireland grew by 5% to 857,000 visits and was worth €457m. The Dublin market saw a 26% increase in the number of incentive conferences choosing the Irish capital.
A new Business Tourism Brand was also launched at today’s industry briefing.
