21/05/2006 - 11:31:45
A suicide car bomb exploded on a busy road in the Afghan capital today, killing a civilian passer-by and wounding two others, police said.

The attack occurred on a road that links several bases belonging to the US-led coalition and a separate NATO-led peacekeeping force, said local deputy police chief Major Pashtun Khan.

The suicide attacker's intended target was not immediately clear. The blast did not occur near any foreign vehicles, Khan said.

The man who was killed was walking along the side of the road at the time of the blast. The body of the attacker was in pieces around the scene.

The explosion set fire to a small truck and a couple of roadside stalls.
