Limerick prepares to greet Munster heroes
21/05/2006 - 10:38:12Tens of thousands of rugby fans are preparing to welcome home the victorious Munster team this afternoon.
The Heineken Cup champions will receive a civic reception at 3pm before travelling in an open-top bus through Limerick city centre before finishing up on O’Connell Street. Gardaí are expecting a crowd in excess of 40,000.
The home-coming celebrations got underway in the early hours of this morning when the team landed at Shannon Airport.
Thousands of people turned out where captain Anthony Foley told the cheering hordes: “We have a great squad, great management but most of all we've got great supporters who'd follow us to the ends of the earth.”
