IMO accuses HSE of smear offensive

Doctors are accusing the Health Service Executive of attempting to smear their professionalism with claims about overtime and of starting a phoney war against them.

The Irish Medical Organisation is reacting to HSE figures which shows that non-consultant hospital doctors work well in excess of 100 hours a week.

Fintan Hourihan of the IMO said today that the HSE was more concerned about the overtime payments they make to doctors than the unsafe hours doctors are forced to work.
