Japan to fingerprint foreigners on arrival into country

Japan is set to fingerprint and photograph all foreigners aged 16 or over entering the country under an anti-terrorism measure approved by parliament today.

The measure also would oblige incoming aircraft and ship operators to provide passenger and crew lists before arriving.

The bill was approved today by the parliament’s upper chamber with a vote of 225-131.
