Decentralisation protests could hit more state agencies
15/05/2006 - 13:25:04SIPTU has warned that industrial action over decentralisation could spread from FÁS to a number of other state agencies.
Staff at FÁS have already engaged in a series of stoppages to protest at the organisation's apparent move to limit promotional opportunities to people who are willing to relocate to Birr, Co Offaly.
SIPTU has now said that similar situations are developing at Enterprise Ireland and the Combat Poverty Agency.
The union says these efforts to limit promotions and new jobs to people who are willing to relocate out of Dublin are a blatant breach of the voluntary nature of decentralisation.
