ISEQ down after morning trade
The ISEQ index of Irish shares has fallen by 72.57 points to 7696.22 today.
Heavy-hitters across the board saw losses, with all the financial sector listed companies seeing slides into the red. AIB was down 26c to €18. Anglo Irish Bank fell 15c to €12.72 while Bank of Ireland saw a more modest 2c fall to €14.15. Irish Life and Permanent was down a hefty 30c to €19.80.
Elan was among the few companies holding back the overall negative trend. The pharmaceutical company was up 50c to €11.80.
Eircom, who today announced after-tax profits of €82m for the year ended March 31, was up 3c to €2.16 after this morning's trading.
Meanwhile, business support services company DCC was down 10c to €19.30 after it announced before-tax profits of €138.8m for the year ended March 31, up 38.7% on the previous year.
