HSE to introduce hospital admission lounges
14/05/2006 - 19:04:14The Health Service Executive (HSE) today announced its plans to introduce a range of measures, including admission lounges, into hospitals across the country.
The aim of the measures is to improve efficiency and ensure patient privacy and dignity.
The first lounges to come on stream will be in hospitals in Naas, Cork, Drogheda, and Wexford as well as the Beaumont and Tallaght hospitals in Dublin.
They will be located beside A&E units and allow for patients to be cared for in more comfortable conditions before they are transferred to in-patient beds.
The HSE claimed that they would be fully functioning units with beds, staffed by nurses and support staff.
