Economist calls for tax cuts in National Development Plan
12/05/2006 - 16:46:18A leading economist is calling for tax cuts rather than increased Government spending in the new National Development Plan.
Dr Sean Barrett of Trinity College said this would reward workers for helping deliver economic growth since 2001.
He also said the tax system should be streamlined and simplified.
Dr Barrett also claims that increasing Government spending would tend to reward high spending departments which had been guilty of delivering poor value for money.
