Djibouti girl has H5N1: WHO
11/05/2006 - 19:52:44A young girl in Djibouti has contacted the H5N1 virus, the East African country’s first human case of bird flu, the World Health Organisation said today.
“I believe the person is still alive. It’s a two-year-old girl,” Who spokesman Dick Thompson said in Geneva.
He said the girl was confirmed as H5N1 positive by the US Naval Medical Research Unit 3 in Cairo, but could not provide any further details.
