Woman, 79, dies in lorry collision
11/05/2006 - 17:13:37An elderly woman was knocked down and killed by an articulated lorry in Dublin’s north inner city today.
The 79-year-old was crossing the North Circular road near St Peter’s Church in Phibsboro at 12.40pm when she was struck by the truck. She was taken to the Mater Hospital and confirmed dead.
A garda spokesman said the incident was under investigation and appealed for witnesses to contact Mountjoy garda station on 01 666 8600.
The woman’s death brings the number of pedestrians killed on the roads this year to 31 and the overall number of road deaths to 152.
