Psychiatric nurses to arrange strike vote over attacks

The Psychiatric Nurses Association is expected to arrange a ballot for industrial action over the rising number of attacks on its members in recent years.

The group says the number of attacks by patients has increased by almost 50% over the past four years, but the Government and health service employers have done nothing to tackle the situation.

A motion calling for a ballot on industrial action over the matter is expected to be passed at the association's annual conference later today.
