Four children treated for E.coli in Scotland

Four childlren are seriously ill in hospital following a suspected outbreak of E.coli O157 in Fife, NHS officials confirmed today.

A 22-month-old child, who attended Careshare Nursery in Dunfermline, Fife, is the latest being treated for kidney failure at Glasgow’s Yorkhill Hospital.

Three toddlers who went to the same nursery remain in a serious condition at the hospital, one day after news of the suspected outbreak emerged.
