No change to Pipe's jockey situation

10/05/2006 - 16:44:29
David Pipe has stated he has no plans to employ a retained rider other than principle owner David Johnson’s jockey Timmy Murphy in the foreseeable future.

The son of former 15-times champion National Hunt trainer Martin enjoyed a dream start to his training career on Tuesday when saddling an across the card treble with the first runners in his name.

But the younger Pipe has said he has no intention of changing a winning formula at Pond House.

“The jockey situation is like a lot of other things at Pond House, nothing is going to change. I don’t believe in changing a winning formula,” said Pipe.

“I have my own ideas on a few little things I would like to change but it will be a long time before things change completely. These things don’t happen over night. The jockey situation will remain the same.

“When we’ve had stable jockeys in the past they’ve never been down here. They have come down to school when we have asked and Timmy does the same thing now so I can’t imaginemuch will change.

“We’ve had fantastic jockeys over the years and we’ve got some great ones riding for us now but everything will continue as it is,” he told At The Races.
